Visiting Engineer

Background:
I’m Satoshi Yamashita from Japan, I was born and I grew up in Gifu, I lived in Tokyo when I was university student, and I lived in Kobe for ten years before I came to Boston.
I completed my Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Waseda University in Tokyo in 2010.

The title of my Master’s thesis was “Stall Phenomena of Axial Compressor with Swept Rotor”.
After graduation I started my career with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.(MHI) in April 2010 in the Turbomachinery Laboratory, Fluid Dynamics Research Department, Research & Innovation Center. My responsibilities included developing and designing axial compressors for industrial gas turbines. I gained experience in compressor testing, measurement and analysis, and I also developed design and analysis tools for compressors.
In October 2019 I was transferred to the MHI America Global Research and Innovation center Boston office, and was appointed as visiting engineer in the MIT Gas Turbine Laboratory.

Research:
Developing compressor design and analysis tool
Technology scouting related to all MHI products.
